    • Abstract:
This article reports on some of the proceedings of a symposium hosted by Marsh Inc. and the coaching and outplacement firm the Five O'Clock Club in June 2003 in New York. The author notes that the symposium addressed how human resource practitioners are being encouraged to broaden their sphere of influence, citing expansion of the chief financial officer (CFO) role as their inspiration. Panelists expressed the notion that human resource executives should be viewed as equal to the CFO.
