      The article provides information on how children develop time concepts and what you can do to help. Children are usually 6 to 8 years old before they understand concrete ideas about time, such as using a calendar or clock to measure it. When children actually try to use clocks and calendars, it involves the spatial understanding and the development of temporal concepts that emerge around 7 or 8 years of age. Even though time is abstract, there are strategies you can use to introduce and reinforce your child's time concepts starting as early as age 3: Talk with your child about his dally routines, provide opportunities to review events, give a three-minute warning for transitions, support your child's interest in learning how time passes.
