    • Abstract:
Aluminum industry giant Alcoa Inc., which has had a presence in Cleveland, Ohio for a century, is raising its profile here by making its sprawling Cleveland Works on Harvard Avenue the world headquarters of the company's recently formed Automotive, Aerospace and Commercial Transportation group. The new group comprises six business units that have a total of 59,000 employees, including 1,300 at Alcoa's Wheel and Forged Products plant on Harvard. The group accounts for about $5 billion in annual sales, or 25% of Pittsburgh-based Alcoa's sales of $20 billion in 2002. By locating the new group here, the company will create about 20 top management jobs in Cleveland, said William F. Christopher, an Alcoa executive vice president and president of the new group.
