      The article discusses the evolution of Hong Kong (HK) telecommunications company (telco) HKT from the use of copper cables in the 1960s to the implementation of fiber optic technology. Topics covered include the Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) and using Dense Wave Division Multiples (DWDM) technology for global transmission of data. Also mentioned are the Fiber-to-the-Bilding (FTTB) connectivity, Passive Optical Network (PON) and Gigabit Ethernet PON (G-PON).
