This essay discusses the theatre production "Voices of a People's History of the United States," staged at Broom Street Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin. Topics include the Wisconsin uprising because of Wisconsin Governor Walker's Budget Repair Bill severely curtailing collective bargaining for state employees' unions, Brechtian strategies in play production, and spontaneous artistic interventions. Theatrical responses to the uprising, representational casting, and juxtaposing texts are mentioned.
