      The article examines the public sphere based on the views of social theorist Michael Warner. Warner reportedly argued against the default liberalism already established by subaltern counterpublics. It explores the powers of self-abstraction and minoritization with regards to liberalism, the debates on the public sphere in North America, the liberal views on the public sphere. Also discussed are the hegemony of liberalism, political theory, and commercialized mass media research.
