      The article examines the feasibility of offering Islamic or sukuk bonds for Canadian defined benefit (DB) pension funds. It notes that sukuk bonds can provide investors access to the Persian Gulf markets. It cites that major Canadian pension funds are reluctant to invest in Islamic bonds due to the negative public perception about anything related to Islam. The article also explains the workings of sukuk bonds and Islamic debt structures.
