The article discusses the nontraditional interpretation of philosopher G. W. F. Hegel's concept of spirit and its influence on modern philosophy. Topics discussed include the disagreement over Hegel's relationship to philosopher Immanuel Kant, the metaphysical and religious aspects of the Hegelian conception of absolute spirit and the lack of impact of the nontraditional interpretation on or presence in the study of religion.
