    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the study published in the "Journal of Ecology" which revealed that the trees in Bornea absorb more carbon from the atmosphere than the trees in the Amazon. The evolution of dipterocarps, a family of large trees with winged seeds, in Borneo is highlighted. Issues addressed by Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEU) ecologist Lindsay Banin are outlined.
