    • Abstract:
The article discusses a snowy owl research project that involved banding hundreds of owls that flew as far south as Florida following an unusually fecund 2013 breeding season in the eastern Canadian Arctic. Solar-powered transmitters affixed to the owls provided researchers with location data about the birds. Participants in the endeavor included Norman Smith of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and Dave Brinker of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
