      This article focuses on some of the welfare and business organizations in the U.S. which have completed 25 years of their service besides the Chicago, Illinois-based periodical 'Crain's Chicago Business,' as of June 2, 2003. The Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Ron Santo Walk To Cure Diabetes, as well as North American Bear Co., maker of high-end teddy bears, also got their start in 1978. Since its inception in 1978, the Chicago-based John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has made more than $3 billion in grants, affecting areas as varied as biodiversity, community development, housing and juvenile justice.
