- Abstract:
The article focuses on the clandestine "Stay Behind" strategy of European countries, in which their military forces stayed behind enemy lines during the Cold War. Topics include the revelation of the strategy during the 1990s, the lack of literature regarding this phenomenon, and the origins of the program in Great Britain and the United States while fighting against the Soviet Union. The application of "Stay Behind" in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO's) strategy is discussed.
