An essay is presented which discusses the typographical character known as the pilcrow in 16th century printed English drama, including in the play "Everyman," by English playwright Richard Pynson. An overview of the role that the pilcrow plays in letting the reader know that the speaker of a dialogue changes, including in regard to plicrow's creating of stanza breaks, is provided.
