      The article examines economic differences in France and Germany and the future of both countries' economic developments. Demographic shifts and the cost of electric utilities in Germany and their forecast effect on the labor market are described, alleged tensions between French national identity and increasing multiculturalism in that country are analyzed, and the role of the European Union government in German and French economic development is discussed.
