Shaping the future of the library system.

CCPL is developing a new strategic vision for 2021-2024. Staff, board members and community leaders volunteered to participate in roundtable discussions to help develop action items for CCPL’s five core focus areas, which they will also help define. The five core principles are Equity, Community Engagement, Workforce Development, Educational Success, and Literacy.

Equity

The fair treatment and opportunity to access library space and resources, no matter an individual’s race, ethnicity, national origin, language, gender,
sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, socioeconomic status, education, veteran status, and physical appearance:

• Create Diversity Initiatives Within CCPL to Reflect and Support the Community It Serves
• Establish Equitable Digital and Technology Access to Resources for our Communities
• Review CCPL Policies and Procedures with the Goal of Advancing Equity of Access to the Library’s Collections, Resources and Services
• Curate a Diverse Collection to Support the Demographics and Interests of Our Communities
• Develop and Integrate Services and Programs that Reflect the Diverse Communities We Serve

Community Engagement

Building enduring and inclusive relationships through programming and services that empower, educate and embrace the community:

• Improve the Inclusivity of Communications to our Community About the Library
• Revise and Update the CCPL Mission and Vision Statement
• Embed Community Input Into the Creation of Programs and Services
• Utilize Partner Resources and Create Opportunities for Collaboration
• Enhancing Original Content Creation

Workforce Development

Building enduring and inclusive relationships through programming and services that empower, educate and embrace the community:

• Support Patrons in Development of Skill in Local Job Markets
• Launch VolunTeen Program
• Certificate of Credit Hours Earned for Library Programs
• Provide Tools for the Enhancement of Career Skills
• Staff Development: Establish a Formal Mentorship Program for CCPL Staff
• Staff Development: Career Enhancement Kits
• Staff Development: Employee Exchange
