- Abstract:
The article discusses the modification of the author's hearing aids in collaboration with sound artist Daniel Jones using a grant from the British innovation charity Nesta. The author and Jones developed software, called Phantom Terrains, that makes wireless (Wi-Fi) fields audible by exploiting the inbuilt Wi-Fi sensor in a hacked iPhone, which streams the audible to a pair of hearing aids. Topics include human-computer interactions, innovations in hearing technology, and auditory interfaces.
