The article discusses the political views of former U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, arguing that he was a federalist in favor of the rights of state governments. Topics include Jefferson's views on the powers of the Virginia state General Assembly, Jefferson's views on the General Welfare Clause of the U.S. Constitution, and his conflict with former U.S. President John Quincy Adams on the role of the U.S. federal government.
