- Abstract:
The article discusses how addictions to mobile e-mail can affect organizations. The authors discuss how the prevalence of mobile devices such as iPhones and BlackBerries have benefitted organizations but may cause addiction to mobile e-mail messaging. Symptoms of mobile e-mail addictions include a preoccupation with mobile devices and negative reactions to interruptions of e-mail messaging, leading to declines in quality of social life and relationships with family and friends. Potential legal liability for organizations' relations to mobile e-mail addiction and the effects of addiction on employee satisfaction and employee turnover are discussed.
