This article presents the author's interpretation of "To Take Place: Toward Theory in Ritual," by Jonathan Z. Smith. She examines how the text treats sacred space and the body's relationship to it. The relationship between ritual space and ritual practitioners is also scrutinized. She is interested in how a sacred space can obtain the illusion of a pre-existing reality.
