- Abstract:
In this article the author examines the significance of political developments in Italy, following the 2008 elections. He reports that the return of a government under the leadership of former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and gains by far right and nationalistic parties are ominous but do not herald a return to fascism. The author expresses his view that Italy's greatest challenge is economic not political.
