An encyclopedia entry for water-borne infections is presented. It explains taht drinking water is susceptible to pollution in many ways, including sewage, chemical substances, insects and animal remains. Food safety requires that water used in food handling and storage should be free from contaminants or pollution. Diseases that are caused by contaminated water include typhoid, fever and dysentery.
