      The article focuses on how librarians should decide which particular media formats to consider in the wake of changing technologies and standards. According to the author, Video Home System (VHS) format is disappearing, losing out to DVDs. Like many libraries, the Monroeville Public Library is phasing out its VHS collection in favor of its DVD collection. There are new formats making their bids to replace DVD with technologies that promise significant improvements, and then there is the promise of online access to video content. The author also suggested online resources that librarians can use to stay up-to-date on technology developments that are likely to affect them.
