- Abstract:
This article focuses on debates, actions and defenses regarding the teaching of Intelligent Design (ID) in Pennsylvania science classes. In Dover, Bernadette Reinking ran for the school board because, while she had no problems with ID, she believed it should be taught in comparative religion classes, not science classes. Reinking was chastised by Christian peers. In Harrisburg, a court case is under way involving eleven Dover parents who are charging that ID is creationism in disguise and the school board violated the separation of church and state. Judge John E. Jones is expected to make a judgment on whether ID is science or religion after the trial ends on Nov. 4, 2005.
