- Abstract:
The city of Huntington, West Virginia has implemented the Compass project to support first responders who are dealing with the emotional toll of the opioid crisis. The project provides resources, services, and activities to help sustain the morale, job satisfaction, and physical and mental health of these frontline workers. The Compass program offers various wellness initiatives, such as therapy, fitness coaching, and discounted vacations, to help responders maintain their passion for their work. The project has shown positive results, including faster response rates and improved job satisfaction among participants. The initiative is funded by the Bloomberg Philanthropies' Mayors Challenge and has the potential to be replicated in other workforces. [Extracted from the article]
