    • Abstract:
This article from Natural History discusses the unique dwarf mangrove trees found on Walakiri Beach in Indonesia. These trees, known as Ae-gilitis annulata, stand apart from the dense mangrove forest and are only about ten feet tall. Photographer Shane White captured stunning photos of these trees at dawn, when the water was calm and reflective. The article also highlights the importance of mangrove forests, which provide benefits such as flood protection, habitat for marine organisms, and carbon storage. Indonesia is currently working on restoring nearly 1.5 million acres of mangrove forests. [Extracted from the article]
