    • Abstract:
Egypt's resistance to women entering the workforce has hindered the country's economic potential. While there are accomplished women in Egypt, they make up only a small percentage of the population. Egypt has one of the lowest rates of female employment in the world, and this number has remained stagnant for the past 25 years. Despite progress in other areas, such as education, Egyptian women are less likely to enter the workforce than they were a decade ago. Resistance to female employment is rooted in societal expectations and interpretations of religious texts. The current administration in Egypt does not prioritize female empowerment, leaving the work to domestic and international NGOs. The unequal position of women in Egypt is seen as the most pressing problem facing the country, as it is a waste of resources to educate women without utilizing their skills in the workforce. The power imbalance between men and women affects behavior in both private and public spheres. Despite the potential and dedication of female workers, initiatives to recruit and train women have faced challenges, such as political unrest and societal pressure. Egypt's economy could greatly benefit from the inclusion of women in the workforce, but progress has been slow. [Extracted from the article]
