    • Abstract:
The company K+S and the start-up Aquapurna are planning to build the largest and most modern indoor shrimp farm in Europe in Sigmundshall near Hanover. K+S is investing a low double-digit million euro amount in the sustainable project and acts as the developer, landlord, and media supplier. Aquapurna will receive additional investments from private investors. The goal of the project is to enable a sustainable and autonomous food supply in Europe and minimize ecological problems such as the destruction of mangrove forests and bycatch. The shrimp farm will be built in three construction phases and will have a farm capacity of up to 800 tons of shrimp per year. [Extracted from the article]
