The author reflects on the plight of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community as they are depicted in the movies. He cites as example the early movies that he watched in the 1980s and 1990s, including "Two of Us," as well as the works of movie producers like Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes. He criticizes the view of the U.S. movie industry of the gay experience as regressive.
