HEAD OF COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNICAL SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: The Charleston County Library, headquartered in the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina, is looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic librarian to help our Collection Development and Technical Services Department, LCATS, to continue to excel in providing our customers, both internal and external, with a collection that fulfills the need of the community using modern library techniques and technologies that allows us to operate in the most efficient manner. The LCATS Manager is part of the Administrative Unit and performs difficult and administrative work planning, selecting, evaluating and maintaining all library materials' collections. Under the supervision of the Executive Library Director, this position is responsible for system-wide selection, acquisition, cataloging, processing and display of all print, audio-visual and electronic materials. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree with six (6) years post master's professional public library experience with three (3) years of management/administrative experience. Well developed communication skills; ability to plan and coordinate the work of others. Must have the stamina for periods of sitting, standing and walking. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification; a valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. LIBRARIAN III/CIRCULATION SERVICES MANAGER - MAIN LIBRARYFull time position. Provides overall management for the Circulation Services Department; oversees all aspects of extensive circulation policies and procedures and effectively resolves related issues and problems; interprets and communicates to public and staff regarding policies/procedures. Provides training on Circulation Services and Integrated Library System (ILS) for staff; including the material recovery program; collaborates with the Systems Department on circulation related recommendation and ILS upgrades; manages the system-wide floating procedures; conducts monthly meetings with circulation managers and/or branch managers; serves as night supervisor for Main Library as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work included. Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances as they arise. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to demonstrate good judgment, ability to deliver exemplary customer experiences; strong supervisory skills; ability to support and actively promote team members and team activities. LIBRARIAN III/ASSISTANT REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER AND REFERENCES SERVICES DEPARTMENT HEAD - ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL: Full time position. This position is that of Assistant Regional Branch Manager and Reference Services Department Manager at the Regional Branch. Assistant Regional Branch Manager duties include: management of the library on a day to day basis; prepares staff schedules; prepares and submits payroll timesheets; compile statistical reports, writes memos, documentation; reports and correspondence; enforces all library policies and procedures; assists the Regional Branch Manager with annual development of staff performance evaluations; may represent the library in the community. As Reference Services Department Manager, responsible for the provision of materials and programs, as well as adult programming for Reference Services at the Regional Branch. Good knowledge of bibliographic tools and sources; broad knowledge of library methods and procedures; ability to carry assignments independently; to meet people easily and participate in the activities of the community. LIBRARY ASSISTANT III - YOUNG ADULT SERVICES - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time position. Assist Young Adult librarians in planning and conducting programs on a variety of subjects for students in grades 6 - 12. Assist YA Outreach Specialist in making presentations at schools and community events. Provide reader's advisory and information services to customers of the Main Library's Teen Lounge. Support the Young Adult department's social media presence by contributing to blog, Twitter, Pinterest and other platforms. Implement procedures set by supervisory staff and prepare forms and reports. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work included. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software; Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. The ideal candidate will have: high aptitude for library work; significant understanding of basic services to young adults; adaptability; familiarity with young adult literature and materials; ability to work with young adults of varied backgrounds; ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, resourcefulness and tact. LIBRARY ASSISTANT I - CIRCULATION/YOUNG ADULT SERVICES - JAMES ISLAND LIBRARYFull time entry level position. Perform routine library functions under professional supervision. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be computer literate in various computer software - Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher a plus. Under the supervision of branch librarians, plan, provide and promote library programs for middle and high school students. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch/departmental operations. Shelving library materials may also be required. PLEASANT REGIONAL; (1) YOUNG ADULT SERVICES/MAIN: The duties of these positions include but are not limited to shelving library materials; basic maintenance of the collection and premises. Other duties as assigned. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Weekend work included.
