LIBRARIAN IV/REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER – ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL:  Full time position.  Management responsibility for a Regional Library and oversight of three (3) branches within the geographical cluster to foster cooperation, training, shared programming and staffing.  Must work with the Deputy Director, other Regional Branch Managers and Department Heads to help achieve the goals adopted by the Library Board of Trustees in the Strategic Plan.  Must be a library advocate devoted to providing excellent customer service to the community.  Must have the ability to exercise leadership and be able to motivate others to achieve these goals.  Must be able to train and supervise staff and possess the necessary tact to motivate staff to be the best they can be.  Ability to write concise reports, analyze community needs, the needs of the collection, the effectiveness of services and be able to communicate those needs to the appropriate departments and supervisors.  Must be flexible and able to assume any additional responsibilities to maintain branch operation.  Must have extensive knowledge of library principles, trends and administration; knowledge of Children’s, Circulation and Reference services.  Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software – Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher a plus.  Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred.  Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.  Evening and weekend work included.  Other duties as assigned.  Must have the stamina for periods of standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling.  REQUIREMENTS:  ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree and four (4) years POST MLS professional library experience in a public library with two (2) of those years in a supervisory capacity.  Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.  Hiring Salary Range:  $50,065.60 - $56,347.20 annually depending on qualifications.  Closing date: Open until position is filled. 

CIRCULATION SERVICES MANAGER/LIBRARIAN IV – MAIN LIBRARY:  
Full time. The Circulation services manager will be a major contributor in the implementation of $108 million capital projects plan approved by voters that includes system wide technology upgrades and implementation of RFID.  Provides overall management for the Circulation Services Department; oversees system wide circulation policies and procedures and effectively resolves related issues and problems; interprets and communicates to public and staff regarding policies/procedures.  Works with the ILS Librarian and Training Specialist to provide system wide training on new technologies; provides ILS training for staff; collaborates with the Systems Department on ILS upgrades; manages the system-wide floating procedures; conducts monthly meetings with circulation managers and/or branch managers; serves as night supervisor for Main Library as assigned.  Other duties as assigned.  Evening and weekend work included. Must have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate others to meet establish goals; demonstrated knowledge of modern circulation technologies and techniques; strong experience working with consultants and/or vendors in designing and implementing RFID systems preferred.  Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances as they arise.  Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to create and deliver training, ability to demonstrate good judgment, ability to deliver exemplary customer experiences; strong supervisory skills; ability to support and actively promote team members and team activities.  Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.  Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain departmental operation.  Must be able to lift books, AV equipment, program materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.  Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping.  Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.  REQUIREMENTS:  ALA accredited MLS degree with four (4) years POST MLS professional progressively more responsible experience in a public library to include supervisory or related experience in a public library.  Hiring Salary Range:  $50,065.60 - $56,347.20 annually depending on qualifications.  Closing date:  Open until position is filled.


LIBRARIAN III/ASSISTANT REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER AND REFERENCE SERVICES DEPARTMENT HEAD – MT. PLEASANT REGIONAL:  
Full time position.  This position is that of Assistant Regional Branch Manager and Reference Services Department Manager at the Regional Branch.  Assistant Regional Branch Manager duties include:  management of the library on a day to day basis; prepares staff schedules; prepares and submits payroll timesheets; compile statistical reports, writes memos, documentation, reports and correspondence; enforces all library policies and procedures; assists the Regional Branch Manager with annual development of staff performance evaluations; may represent the library in the community.  As Reference Services Department Manager, responsible for the provision of materials and programs, as well as adult programming for Reference Services at the Regional Branch.  Good knowledge of bibliographic tools and sources; broad knowledge of library methods and procedures; ability to carry out assignments independently; to meet people easily and participate in the activities of the community.  Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.  Evening and weekend work included.  Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations.  Other duties as assigned.  Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending and stooping.  Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.  REQUIREMENTS:  ALA accredited MLS degree with three (3) years POST MLS professional progressively more responsible experience in a public library to include supervisory or related experience in a public library.  Must have a creative approach to regional branch management.  Must be detail oriented; a team player.  Hiring Salary Range:  $44,699.20 - $50,294.40 annually depending on qualifications.  Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARIAN II/CHILDREN’S SERVICES DEPARTMENT MANAGER – ST. ANDREWS REGIONAL:  
Full time position.  The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of current developments in children’s services and products, both print and electronic and be able to supervise a staff of one professional and one paraprofessional FTE’s.  Participate in collection development and maintenance.  Will also participate in library tours and school visits, provide programs and services for parents and caregivers, daycare providers, teachers and other professionals in the community who work with children.  Ability to create in-house programs for every age group of children as well as providing outreach services to area daycares and other points of service to children.  On an annual basis, participate in the system wide coordinated programs and Summer Reading Program.  Provide a variety of series of children’s programs throughout the year.  Provide readers advisory, reference and other services via telephone or in person.  Must have appropriate skill level to perform storytelling, book discussions and puppet programs.  Must demonstrate knowledge, appreciation and understanding of children’s literature and materials.  Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and have the ability to work well with people in groups and individual settings.  Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software – Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus.  Must possess the ability to carry out assignments independently, show initiative as well as to communicate pleasantly and effectively with staff and the general public.  Evening and weekend work included.  Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.  Other duties as assigned.  Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations.  Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, lifting and kneeling.  Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification.  REQUIREMENTS:  ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree with two (2) years POST MLS professional library experience to include supervisory experience in a public library or related experience.  Must have sufficient knowledge of modern library organization, procedure, policy and service goals; basic skills in the performance of technical library tasks, initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment, accuracy, tact and adaptability.  Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the public and library staff.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.  Hiring Salary Range:  $41,433.60 - $46,633.60 annually depending on qualifications.  Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARY ASSISTANT V – SMALL BRANCH MANAGER – HOLLYWOOD/ST. PAUL’S:  
Part time position; thirty (30) hours per week.  Responsible for the operation of a small branch library; supervise staff; performs basic library functions under professional supervision.  Represents and promotes the library at community events and meetings.  Provide and maintain statistical records of the branch.  Plan and prepare displays, request materials for patrons; help patrons locate materials.  May plan and conduct library programs.  Handles money and prepares deposits; and responsible for maintenance and repair of facility, equipment and grounds.  Must be detail oriented, customer focused and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software; Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus.  Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operation.  Other duties as assigned.  Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.  Evening and weekend work included.  Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending and stooping.  May also be required to shelve library materials; lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and/or push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. LIBRARY ASSISTANT II – CIRCULATION – JAMES ISLAND:

LIBRARY ASSISTANT II – LCATS – MAIN LIBRARY:  
Full time position.  Responsible for a variety of clerical and technical duties including:  processing and linking materials, RFID tagging, withdrawals, editing items in the library database, and data entry.  May train and supervise substitutes and volunteers.  Other duties as assigned.  Must have the stamina for periods of sitting, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting and standing.  May also be required to shelve library materials.  Must be able to lift book crates weighing approximately fifty (50) pounds and push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds.  REQUIREMENTS:  High School graduate with one to two years of experience in a public library or related experience.  High aptitude for library work, including speed and accuracy in repetitive work, significant understanding of basic library services and goals.  Dependability, initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment, tact, adaptability, ability to get along well with others, ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with library staff.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.  Hiring Salary Range:  $23,504.00 - $26,457.60 annually depending on qualifications. ROUTE DELIVERY DRIVER – MAIN LIBRARY:  
Full time position.  The successful candidate for this position will perform a variety of duties. The main responsibility will be to provide countywide distribution of library materials, supplies, equipment and furniture.  Ensure that library vehicles are serviced and maintained as required.  Other duties will include processing mail, assisting with bookmobile routes and procedures and public library services as needed.  The applicant selected must be a team player who can be flexible in assuming additional responsibilities to maintain library operations and other duties as assigned.  The applicant MUST BE ABLE TO ENDURE HEAVY LIFTING OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TINE.  Must be able to climb in and out of county trucks.  REQUIREMENTS:  High School graduate with a minimum of three (3) years related delivery driving experience preferred.  ABILITY TO LIFT AND CARRY MATERIALS WEIGHING FIFTY (50) POUNDS OR MORE; ability to drive county vehicles safely and efficiently; ability to maintain favorable working relationships.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record is required.  A copy of the driving record can be obtained fro the SC Highway Department and must be submitted with the application.  Hiring Salary Range:  $23,504.00 annually; $11.30 hourly - $26.457.60 annually; $12.72 hourly  depending on qualifications.  Closing date:  August 14, 2015.
