CIRCULATION SERVICES MANAGER/LIBRARIAN IV - MAIN LIBRARY: Full time. The Circulation services manager will be a major contributor in the implementation of $108 million capital projects plan approved by voters that includes system wide technology upgrades and implementation of RFID. Provides overall management for the Circulation Services Department; oversees system wide circulation policies and procedures and effectively resolves related issues and problems; interprets and communicates to public and staff regarding policies/procedures. Works with the ILS Librarian and Training Specialist to provide system wide training on new technologies; provides ILS training for staff; collaborates with the Systems Department on ILS upgrades; manages the system-wide floating procedures; conducts monthly meetings with circulation managers and/or branch managers; serves as night supervisor for Main Library as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work included.
Must have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate others to meet establish goals; demonstrated knowledge of modern circulation technologies and techniques; strong experience working with consultants and/or vendors in designing and implementing RFID systems preferred. Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances as they arise. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to create and deliver training, ability to demonstrate good judgment, ability to deliver exemplary customer experiences; strong supervisory skills; ability to support and actively promote team members and team activities. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain departmental operation. Must be able to lift books, AV equipment, program materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited MLS degree with four (4) years post MLS professional progressively more responsible experience in a public library to include supervisory or related experience in a public library. Hiring salary Range: $50,057.58 - $54,699.28 annually depending on qualifications. Closing date: Open until position is filled.
