LIBRARIAN IV/REGIONAL BRANCH MANAGER - MT. PLEASANT REGIONAL: Full time position. Management responsibility for a Regional Library and oversight of three (3) branches within the geographical cluster to foster cooperation, training, shared programming and staffing. Must work with the Deputy Director, other Regional Branch Managers and Department Heads to help achieve the goals adopted by the Library Board of Trustees in the Strategic Plan. Must be a library advocate devoted to providing excellent customer service to the community. Must have the ability to exercise leadership and be able to motivate others to achieve these goals. Must be able to train and supervise staff and possess the necessary tact to motivate staff to be the best they can be. Ability to write concise reports, analyze community needs, the needs of the collection, the effectiveness of services and be able to communicate those needs to the appropriate departments and supervisors. Must be flexible and able to assume any additional responsibilities to maintain branch operation. Must have extensive knowledge of library principles, trends and administration; knowledgeable of Children's, Circulation and Reference services. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software - Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Evening and weekend work included. Other duties as assigned. Must have the stamina for periods of standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Master of Library Science degree and four (4) years post masters professional library experience in a public library with two (2) of those years in a supervisory capacity. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. LIBRARY ASSISTANT V – TECHNOLOGY LEARNING CENTER – MAIN LIBRARY
:  
Full time position.  Performs a variety of library functions under professional supervision.  Responsible for training staff and the general public in the use of technology, including software, online tools and mobile devices during classes, programs and public computer sessions.  Assistance may be provided in person, by phone, or by email.  Duties include developing training materials, conducting staff and public training sessions at Main and the branches, maintaining monthly statistics for the department and promoting the department through social media.  Other duties as assigned.  Evening and weekend work included.  Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.  REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s Degree plus four (4) years of public library or related experience preferably with a background in teaching and the use of computer applications.  ALA-accredited Master of Library Science students or graduates welcome.  Must be extremely knowledgeable of Windows and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and comfortable with emerging technologies.  Strong communication skills are essential.  Ability to teach others including patrons of different ages and the capacity to exercise initiative, good judgment, accuracy and tact when providing assistance.  Ability to work as part of a team but also to carry out assignments independently.  Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed for departmental operation.  Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending and stooping.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.  Salary:  $28,392.00 - $32,884.80 annually depending on qualifications.  Pay Grade 08NE.  Closing date:  Open until position is filled. 

LIBRARY ASSISTANT I – CIRCULATION SERVICES – MT. PLEASANT REGIONAL:  Full time entry level position.  Perform routine library functions under professional supervision.  Prior library experience helpful but not necessary.  Basic clerical and general office work.  Must be computer literate in various computer software – Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus.  Must be detailed oriented and flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch/departmental operations.  Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.  May also be required to shelve library materials, must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and/or push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds.  Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping.  Evening and weekend work included.  Other duties as assigned.  REQUIREMENTS:  High School graduate; possess the ability to get along well with others and the ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and library staff.  A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.  Salary:  $20,113.60 - $23,275.20 annually depending on qualifications.  Pay Grade 04NE.  Closing Date:  April 11, 2014. 

LIBRARIAN I - CHILDREN'S SERVICES - OTRANTO REGIONAL: Full time entry level professional position. Responsible for the provision of juvenile services at a regional branch library. Basic knowledge of modern principles and practices of services; general knowledge of children's materials; procedure, policy, aims and services for public libraries. Skilled in the performance of library tasks, ability to work well with people in groups and individual settings. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software; Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Evening and weekend work included. Other duties as assigned. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and library staff. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting. Shelving library materials may also be required. Must be able to lift books, AV equipment, program materials weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds. Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree; specialized subject knowledge of skills developed through work experience where appropriate. Salary: $36,732.80 - $42,619.20 annually depending on qualifications. Pay Grade 05EX. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARY ASSISTANT IV - SMALL BRANCH MANAGER -HOLLYWOOD/ST. PAUL'S: Part time position; thirty (30) hours per week. Responsible for the operation of a small branch library; supervise staff; performs basic library functions under professional supervision. Provide and maintain statistical records of the branch. Plan and prepare displays; request materials for patrons; help patrons locate materials. Must be detail oriented and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software; Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher a plus. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operation. Other duties as assigned. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus. Evening and weekend work included. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending and stooping. May also be required to shelve library materials; lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and/or push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree plus three (3) years library or related experience OR two (2) years (sixty {60} credit hours) of college plus five (5) years of experience in a related area. Good knowledge of reference collection and of library methods and procedures. High aptitude for library service, thorough understanding of basic aims and services of libraries; to meet people easily and participate in the activities of the community; strong communication skills to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the general public and library staff; enjoys detailed work. A valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record. Salary: $12.51 - $14.48 per hour depending on qualifications. Pay Grade 07NE. Closing date: Open until position is filled.

LIBRARY PAGE - {THREE (3) VACANCIES} - (1) DORCHESTER REGIONAL BRANCH; (1) JOHN L. DART BRANCH; (1) MT. PLEASANT REGIONAL BRANCHThe duties of this position include but are not limited to shelving library materials; basic maintenance of the collection and premises. Other duties as assigned. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping and kneeling. Must be able to lift book crates weighing up to approximately fifty (50) pounds and push book carts weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Weekend work included. MINIMUM AGE IS SIXTEEN (16) YEARS OLD. Salary: $7.40 per hour - fifteen (15) hours per week. Closing date: April 11, 2014
